An invitation to reflect on the role of words to communicate stability and sustainability

On 24 January 2020, Chinese scientists published research on a novel coronavirus with a reported high mortality rate and which had ‘pandemic potential’. Two months later, the virus had spread to 175 countries, changing the lives of millions of people. As scientists around the world have since then raced to understand and stop the further spread of this virus, governments around the world employ unprecedented measures that will, according to many social scientists, forever change our lives and that of our communities.

This year, the LCPA would like to invite all scholars, political and social scientists, sociolinguists, media specialists and cultural and literary scholars  to reflect on how disruptive situations, such as the Covid19 pandemic, affect our lives, how we communicate and how we project our future. Papers from all fields which analyse public policies and government communication strategies but also media content and cultural output are welcome.
